Ireland- Day 8-August 13, 2023- A Quiet Morning Walk on Main Street

I took a lovely stroll down the  Main Street of Portlaoise. It was wonderful to see all the flower pots, clean sidewalks and to feel the crisp cool breeze. There was no traffic and few people out between 8:00 AM-9:30AM!

I was so impressed by the signs Promoting a Greener Life!

Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Molly and their children John, Pat. Mary and Seamus lived in an apartment in the Courthouse. I have many happy memories of our visits to Ireland and our stay at the Courthouse.

I attended liturgy at  Portlaoise Parish Church. it was a delight to see altar girls. When we prayed for vocations to the priesthood  for those called, I think our prayers are being answered with our Roman Catholic Women Priests Movement. The  future is in the hands of these young girls serving at the altar as they live  their spiritual call in a church where there is room for everyone.

Ireland- Day 6- Aug. 11, 2023, The Epic Museum

The Epic museum on emigration has been named Europe’s leading tourist attraction.

I understand why.

This is my second visit because there is so much to learn and the presentation of this story through the lives of emigrants is highly moving, engaging  and inspiring.
Epic is one of  my favorite museums anywhere.
