VALLETTA, Malta (AP) --
"With tears in his eyes, Pope Benedict XVI made his most personal gesture yet to respond to the clerical sex abuse scandal Sunday, telling victims the church will do everything possible to protect children and bring abusive priests to justice, the Vatican"...

"Victims' advocacy groups have demanded that the Vatican take concrete steps to protect children and remove abusive priests and the bishops who protected them, saying the pope's expressions to date of solidarity and shame were meaningless unless actual action is taken."

My Response: Unless Pope Benedict embraces the following structural changes: married priests and women priests, the removal of bishops who kept pedophile priests in ministry, transparent processes that involve the people of God in decision-making roles like monitoring sex abuse policies on local, national and Vatican levels, his expressions of sorrow, while heart-wrenching and sincere, will not resolve the root cause of hierarchical abuse of power that is at the heart of this crisis.

There's a special place in Hell for people who try to take advantage of the sufferings of children like you have. Shame on you for politicizing the abuse of children.

  2. Would you care to explain who is politicizing the abuse of children? And, further, explain how this is being done? It does not follow from your quote.

  3. Dear Mike,

You did not include the entire CONTEXT of the response.

I have a response to your post about "HELL".

HELL is where the innocent children/adults must have felt like they were IN or AT, while they were being sodomized, raped, abused, and used by persons that WE as a people of God entrusted them too !

HELL is where some of them have felt like they have been while trying to heal from such crimes against human beings, by human beings claiming "to represent Our Loving Lord Jesus Christ !".

All of that said, and the only item you want to discuss is "politicizing" ? For God's sake man, we are talking about innocent children and you are concerned about who and how the information is handled ? Where is the common dignity of every human being ?

Forget the "politicizing", you are person on this planet and you need to deal with what has been allowed to happen in OUR (yours and mine) Catholic Church !

Exactly at what point did the the FREE PRESS of this great country lose the freedom of the press ?

  4. Oh Mike,
I just saw that you are another "cloaked blogger". That is just so brave and transparent of you !

I will be sure and take your comments with the same level as "authentic ownership" as you left them .... an unknown, hiding person.

  5. Linda --

Keep in mind that people like Mike and the Apologist believe that the reputation of the Church is far more important than the hearts of the People of God.

    Certainly.

    Who: Bridget Mary
How: Falsely tying priestly sex abuse to celibacy and the male-only priesthood.

    Clear?

And Linda Monk, ah, my good friend...

"All of that said, and the only item you want to discuss is "politicizing" ?"

Children are suffering and the only thing your friend Bridget wishes to discuss is ordaining women priests?

  7. Everyone can't work on the same problem at the same time. There are many problems and many people with many talents. Everyone has a job to do.
