"We are incredibly humbled by the outpouring of support from so many people around the country, who are standing with SOA Watch and for our First Amendment rights," Voss said. The organizer said nearly 7,000 people signed an online petition presented to the city, which also received letters opposing the restricted permit from 75 human rights, peace and religious groups. Those groups included Pax Christi chapters, 10 chapters of Veterans for Peace, at least three orders of Catholic sisters, the Presbyterian Peace Fellowship, and the Catholic social justice lobby NETWORK."
Janice Sevre-Duszynska, ARCWP with Fr. Bill Brennan, a Jesuit Priest at SOA Vigil in Ft. Benning. Padre Bill died in Aug. 2014. Now he continues to support justice with the communion of the saints. |
Lift up your hearts, social justice supporters, your solidarity and witness can and does move mountains! We are grateful that Fr. Bill Brennan co-presided at a liturgy with one of our woman priests, Janice Sevre-Duszynska. We understand the Jesuits then restricted Fr. Bill's movements -he could not leave nursing home where he lived. Even at 90, Fr. Bill was punished for his courageous witness to justice for women in the Roman Catholic Church. Presente!
