Dealing with rejection, being left out and hurt by others is a painful experience and one that many people deal with in daily life. But, it can lead us to deep growth in our spiritual lives. We can look for the lessons learned, the little miracles, in our broken relationships and grow in wisdom. Or we can become stuck and spiral down emotionally and spiritually. Some of us could write our own book on this topic!
But there is good news and there is a path to healing and wholeness that leads us to rise up and embrace ourselves as beloved and blest and grow more whole and holy, full of love, through the process. Years ago, I wrote a book, The Healing Power of Prayer, on inner healing. It has been a theme in my other books and writings as well.
I firmly believe that when we embrace our pain, we can forgive, let go and find a way through and out in the light of divine love. This is the reason I recommend the following book by a New York Times best-selling author.
Lysa Terkeurst in her new book, Uninvited, shares positive, scriptural and emotionally healthy strategies to cope with the disappointment and hurt as well as to flourish spiritually. I highly recommend her book.
She writes: "Rejection may be a delay or distraction or even a devastation. But its never a final destination. . " In the following she provides a prayerful encounter for healing:
It's not about you becoming anything.
Your soul was made to simply be with Me.
And the more you are with me, the more you will stop fearing what the world might take from you.
With you, Jesus, I am forever safe.
I am forever accepted.
I am forever held.
Completely loved and always invited in." p. 269.
