yours ever be the splendor.

First reading from Life and Letters of Janet
Erskine Stuart, pg 474
You have just come to a hard
place where two currents meet, and you could let yourself be beaten back
towards the shore; but you can, instead, bend your back to the oars and pull
the boat for all you are worth across that rough bit, and it will be better
when you get out of the cross currents.
Hold on and let nothing dismay.
You may have to change your means; don’t change your purpose. Remember you are doing God’s work and God is
with you, and all (God’s)saints are looking on ‘a great cloud of witnesses,’
while you fight in the arena, and they too have fought and overcome…The
inspired word of Jane Erskine Stuart, RSCJ. All: Thanks be to God

Bless the Holy One from this
time forth and forever more! Aspire to
enter fully into the Great Mystery. Aspire to gifts of Sophia God’s Spirit, be
open to Grace and express gratitude!
All: Your glory is throughout creation; we praise
your name Holy One
Yes, those who call upon the
Merciful One, are lifted up and blessed with new life; they wear a crown of
joy, as they recognize their Oneness with God’s Spirit. Come, all who suffer
and are heavy-laden, open your hearts to Love! Sing praises to the Heart of all
hearts!
All: Your glory is throughout creation; we praise
your name Holy One
Second Reading from Paul’s letter to the Romans
For in the Gospel, God’s
justice is revealed—a justice which arises from faith and has faith as its
result. As it is written ‘By being
faithful, those who are upright will find life.’ 1: 17
When people do nothing
except believe in the One who justifies the ungodly, their faith is credited as
righteousness. 4:5
Hence everything depends on
faith; everything is grace. Thus the
promise holds true for all of Sarah’s and Abraham’s descendants, not only for
those who have the law, but for all who have their faith. 4:16
Hoping against hope, Sarah
and Abraham, believed and so became the mother and father of many nations as it
was once promised them. Sarah and Abraham, without growing weak in faith,
thought about their bodies, which were very old….Still they never questioned or
doubted God’s promise; rather, they grew strong in faith and gave glory to God,
fully persuaded that God could whatever was promised. 4:18-21 The Word of God. All: Thanks be to God.
Gospel Reading: Matthew 8:5-10, 13
As Jesus entered Capernaum,
a centurion approached him and said, “Rabbi, my young attendant is at home in
bed paralyzed, suffering in great pain.”
Jesus replied, “I will come and heal your attendant.” The centurion replied, “Teacher, I am not
worthy to have you under my roof, but just say the word and my boy will be cured. I, too, am a person subject to authority and
have soldiers subject to me. I say to
some, ‘Go!’ and off they go; to others, ‘Come here!’ and they come, to my
attendants, ‘Do this!’ and they do it.”
When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those nearby, “The
truth is, I‘ve found no one in Israel with such great faith” …Then Jesus said
to the centurion, “Go home, it will be done just as you believed it would.” And
the attendant was healed that very hour. The Good News of Jesus our
Brother. All: Thanks be to God.
