The Catholic Archbishop of Dublin Diamuid Martin has expressed concern that Pope Francis might not get time to meet survivors of church abuse.
This would be a tragic missed opportunity to initiate a healing encounter with people whose lives have been devastated by unimaginable suffering and harsh abuse by clerics and religious orders. It should be the top priority for Pope Francis and for the Archbishop not only to meet with survivors but to embrace major reform to prevent abuse in a more accountable, inclusive Church. It would be, in my view, what Jesus would do.
