From the highest heavens
She draws near
Her Divine Heart breaking
for Her daughters
Her stars shine for you
She appears on earth
settling in the desert
in the holy tent
where She ministers
She wants joy for you
While Christ as Mother
invites, “Come to me
all you who are weary
and I will give you rest.”
She wants you to love your life
Gentleness of heart
you will find here
where you will know
“rest for your souls.”
She helps you
St. Joan of Arc,
guardian against evil,
offers lavender balm
a tender anointing
at the tent’s entrance
That you may flourish
Wings of the dove
touch gently to the ground
Providing cover from
the searing heat
of the daylight
You can trust Her
Ashes litter the ground
from previous occupants
A purified blanket of
so many past wounds
She pervades all things
The next person
arrives eviscerated by
the unspeakable menace
She bears your rape, struck down and afflicted
Ducking into the tent
unsure of who is trustworthy
But needing protection
Needing to heal
She is breath that will help you breathe
Even within these
confines trust evades
Promises are useless
for one so injured
She makes things well
Self protection is
all she knows
She
stays nowhere
for long
She sets Her table
But need surpasses reason
Pain overwhelms fear
Relief is all that can sustain
the humanness within
the broken pieces
She offers you sweet bread
Come under the wings
Drink fully from the
breast of healing
Stay little or long
There is no cost
Your healing is sweeter than the honeycomb
Ashes fall and litter the ground
The tent warms without burn
Fear evaporates with the slowness of death
Yet sanctity abides, abounds
She sees your light
Come to the river
Wash yourself clean
Wounded and marred
Your beauty is eternal
Excelling every constellation of the stars
