My Journey:

 It is  amazing that so many people from every corner of the world, religion, and culture have experienced  Mother Mary guiding them into a profound awareness of  the Infinite Love of the Holy One in which they are embraced every moment of life - healing, strengthening, empowering and transforming them especially in times of  need. 

 My relationship with Mother Mary began when I was a small child in Ireland.

My  mother, Bridie,  loved Mother Mary.  And my mother called on her often sometimes calling on the entire holy family for help when things went awry:  “Jesus, Mary and Joseph give me strength! “  She led our family in praying the Rosary which ended with the - long, long, long  litany of Our lady of Loretta!

When I was 18, I entered the Immaculate Heart of Mary Order. Every time we got in a car we prayed that  Our Lady of the Highway would be with us.  I have had a few close calls and still pray this prayer today:

“Our Lady of the Highway be with us on our journey for all your ways are beautiful and all your paths make peace. “

 In recent years, I  have incorporated the insights of contemporary theology in my thinking and writings about Mary. Elizabeth Johnson’s - She Who Is and Always Our Sister have expanded my understanding and deepened my spiritual connection to Divine Mystery and feminine imagery in prayer from scripture, the mystics and my own experiences.

Inspired by this knowledge and by a gentle nudge from Mary I  wrote 3 books :Exploring the Feminine Face of God, Delighting in the Divine Feminine and Heart Talks with Mother God. I included a meditation on Mother Mary from a feminist perspective in each book.

 I believe with all my heart that Mary accompanies us in our RCWP mission to birth  a new church and world where each person is loved and welcome at the Banquet table with more than enough for all - where inclusivity, partnership, equality and justice is a reality.

Mary’s  Magnificat challenge patriarchy and so do we! She is right beside us in the struggle!
