"The more opposition we experience, the harder we have to pray, and the harder we have to pray, the more miracles God does." ( Mark Batterson, The Circle Maker, "praying circles around your biggest dreams and greatest fears.")
Yes, indeed, Mark Batterson, this has been my experience! In my book, Living Gospel Equality Now, I share stories of how we grew from a house church to renting space in St. Andrew United Church of Christ in Sarasota, Florida. On one occasion, the local bishop, Frank Dewane, in Florida issued an excommunication threat against those who planned to attend our first ordination in Sarasota, Florida. The outcome, the church was packed and the story of the ordination of Roman Catholic Women Priests was front page news two days in a row in the Sarasota Herald Tribune. In the years since, Mary Mother of Jesus Inclusive Catholic Community continues to flourish.
Now the nuns are under fire with the Vatican's hostile take-over of the Leadership Conference of Women Religious/ LCWR. Let's get real here. Who prays more than nuns? Right? Watch out, men of the inquisition, the nuns are praying! So are millions more! So what do you think the outcome will be? Expect a miracle, a wondrous God-suprise! I do.
