The Vatican must connect the issue of climate change with gender equality in the Church and in the world as a social justice issue that is constitutive to the Gospel in order to have any credibility as a Church that is rooted in Jesus' teachings and example.
In John 10:10, Jesus said: "I have come that they may have life and have it abundantly." This includes all genders, the flourishing of earth's creatures and the natural environment. All are beloved images of divinity entitled to live abundantly on earth.
When the Vatican acts as if all are spiritual equals, - including ordaining women and all genders in the institutional Church- they will fail to live Jesus's radical teachings and example of a discipleship of equals! Bridget Mary Meehan
