This Advent I have been meditating on Our Journey Toward Joy by S. James Meyer's daily reflections.
One of my friends is a deeply compassionate caregiver for a mutual friend who is seriously ill. She has done everything you would do if you were a close relative. This selfless giving has taken a toll on her health and well-being.
I share the following reflection for all those whose nerves are fraying and who feel overwhelmed by the constant stress that drains their minds, bodies and spirits.
The beautiful icon above was written by our most recent candidate in the Association of Roman Catholic Women Priests, Diane Burroughs.

Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
Thank you, S. James Meyer for your daily reflections, practices and prayers and for this inspiring message below.
"Love may be patient and kind, but it can be exhausting and trying.
Sometimes love is too big for a single human heart, too big to carry alone. Fortunately, we don’t have to, nor are we expected to.
As we journey toward the birth of Christ within us, we are reminded that we are not meant to go it alone.
In our trials and tribulations, the exhaustion and anxiety, Christ is there with a cup of comfort and strength that never runs empty.
Prayer Practice: Surrender. Close your eyes, lean against the wall, and let Christ’s warm presence hold you up for a few minutes.
Advent Prayer: Thank you for your heart, your breath, your strength, your wisdom. You make my love so much larger.
