We invite you to pray the liturgy where it says “All.” And please sing your heart out! Everyone will be muted during the service. During the shared homily and prayers of the community, we invite you to unmute yourself to contribute, and then re-mute yourself again. (Elena) Today we celebrate the reality of Holy Mystery who loves us unconditionally from the original enfleshment of Christ in matter, since the Big Bang of 14 billion years ago, who loves us in the Creation of earth 4 billion years ago and who loves us in the blessing of the rise of human consciousness about 200,000 years ago.
(Joan)The readings provide information that may help those of us who still wonder about how to frame and understand the concept of the universal Christ. In the Good News, Jesus the man asks if his suffering passage to greater consciousness could be removed from his life. In teaching us how to respond to our call, Jesus surrenders his will and says, “Abba…. Your will be done.” He would rise as Jesus the Christ. We too are called to enter into a transformation that will enhance our relationship with the Universal Christ, a relationship immersed in the ever loving energy of evolution, in whom we live, move, and have our being.

Liturgy of the Word: First Reading (Bob) A reading from The Universal Christ by Richard Rohr.
Each one of us operates from an implicit worldview, a set of assumptions that are usually not conscious, and therefore are difficult to observe, much less evaluate. Your worldview is not what you look at. It is what you look out from or look through. It is thus taken for granted, largely unconscious, and in great part it determines what you see—and what you don’t see at all. I have concluded that there are four basic worldviews, though they may be expressed in many ways and are not necessarily completely separate. Some people represent the best of all of them, or combine several, somehow allowing them to cross religious, intellectual, and
ethnic boundaries. There are good things about all four of them, and none of them is completely wrong or completely right, but one of them is by far the most helpful.
Those who hold the material worldview believe that the outer, visible universe is the ultimate and “real” world. People of this worldview have given us science, engineering, medicine, and much of what we now call “civilization.”
The spiritual worldview characterizes many forms of religion and some idealistic philosophies that recognize the primacy and finality of spirit, consciousness, the invisible world behind all manifestations. This worldview is partially good too, because it maintains the reality of the spiritual world, which many materialists deny. But taken too far it can become ethereal and disembodied, disregarding ordinary human needs and denying the need for good psychology, anthropology or societal issues of peace and justice.

Withdrawing a second time, Jesus prayed, “Abba, if this cup cannot pass me by without me drinking it, your will be done!”

Statement of Faith
(Bob)We believe in the Holy One, a divine mystery beyond all definition and rational understanding, the heart of all that has ever existed, that exists now, or that ever will exist. We believe in Jesus, messenger of God's Word, bringer of God's healing, heart of God's compassion, bright star in the firmament of God's prophets, mystics, and saints.
We believe that we are called to follow Jesus as a vehicle of God's love, a source of God's wisdom and truth, and an instrument of God's peace in the world.
We believe that God's kin-dom is here and now, stretched out all around us for those with eyes to see it, hearts to receive it, and hands to make it happen.

(Joan) As we prepare for the sacred meal, we pray for the needs of the people of God in our community and around the world and for the earth and all universal life sustained by God.
All: May Shekinah guide us.

(Joan and All) On the night before he died, Jesus gathered with his friend and washed their feet so that they would follow his example in service of human consciousness and evolution into Jesus the Christ.
(Joan and All) When he returned to his place at the table he spoke the blessing, broke the bread and shared it with them saying, “Take and eat of the bread of life. Whenever you remember me like this, I am among you.”
(Elena and All) Jesus then raised the cup of blessing, spoke the grace saying, “Take a drink of the covenant made new again through my life in each of you and in your community. Whenever you remember me like this, I am among you.”
(Elena and All) Jesus, who was with God in the beginning of the creation of the heavens and earth, is with us now in this bread. The Spirit of whom the prophets spoke in history, is with us now in this cup. Let us proclaim the mystery of faith - Christ dies, Christ rises, Christ comes again and again and again.
