"Good!" said Bridget Mary Meehan, the former nun who is performing today's ordinations and is one of five bishops in the national movement. "They're upping the ante. People will have to be courageous to support us and that is what this is about. Like our sister Rosa Parks, we refuse to sit on the back of the bus any longer."

Mine is the Kingdom, Mine is the power, Mine is the Glory forever and ever, Amen.

You continue, Bridget Mary to serve yourself. Continue to have your pretend ordinations and live in your make believe world.

The True Catholic Chruch will serve God. For THINE is the Kingdom, THINE is the power, and THINE is the Glory, forever and ever, Amen.

Yes, WE the Catholic Church will serve GOD ! And WE in the Catholic Church are Thanking God for Men and Women who are brave and willing to bring forth an end to the gender bias that has been created by humankind - NOT OUR DEAR LOVING LORD ! Our Lord sees us all as loving equal members in his church in all sacraments, duties and offices.
Hoorah for the witnesses and participants ! Keep on marching and SERVING the NEEDS of ALL !

Linda,

Can I ask you something?

Does it follow that becasue men and women are created in the image and likeness of God their roles are therefore interchangable?

I submit the answer is "No." Equality is not synonymous with "sameness." Men and women are indeed equal in God's sight, but it does not follow that God intends their roles to be interchangable.

This is one of my issues in any debate on the role of women or men in the Church. I don't begin from the starting point that equality means "sameness" or "interchangable roles" where as the women's ordination movement and their supporters do.

Before we can even begin to have a meaningful and intelligent dialog we have to get our definitions straight. What does it mean to be equal?

Why, Linda, in your book does it follow that equality flows from the roles one plays? The equality of men and women does not flow from their roles, but their BEING, the fact that they bear God's image. This is the starting point I begin with. In short, equality flows from being, not roles.

Apologist,
We are all created in GOD's IMAGE and or BEING.
There is no hierarchy in being a "Being" or an "IMAGE" of Our Beautiful Lord.

Study every great religion, not just Christianity, and you will find the oppression of women in EACH and every one of them.

The starting point or definitions have traditionally - well lets say always been defined by the non feminine. That in itself is gender bias, by non inclusivity.

But, both you and I, may both rest assured, that OUR LOVING LORD will always love BOTH of us and will keep us gently comforted in these changing times.

Blessings and peace to you and yours.
