"A Church Mary Can Love" by Nicholas D. Kristof/ Mary Mother of Jesus Inclusive Catholic Community

Carol Ann Breyer, Lee Breyer (married priest couple) Bridget Mary Meehan, Roman Catholic Womanbishop, Michael and Imogene Rigdon, marred priest couple
Lee, Michael and Bridget Mary are partner priests who serve Mary Mother of Jesus Inclusive Catholic Community in Sarasota, Florida. Roman Catholic Womenpriests are working to develop a renewed model of priestly ministry that is egalitarian and reflects justice, equality and partnership with the people with whom we serve.

"It wasn’t inevitable that the Catholic Church would grow so addicted to male domination, celibacy and rigid hierarchies. Jesus himself focused on the needy rather than dogma, and went out of his way to engage women and treat them with respect..."

"The first-century church was inclusive and democratic, even including a proto-feminist wing and texts. The Gospel of Philip, a Gnostic text from the third century, declares of Mary Magdalene: “She is the one the Savior loved more than all the disciples.” Likewise, the Gospel of Mary (from the early second century) suggests that Jesus entrusted Mary Magdalene to instruct the disciples on his religious teachings..."

Bridget Mary, I would like to pose a question to you. What is your teaching concerning same-sex unions (marriage)?

Xpi, wouldn't the more appropriate question be: what is the liberal stance on this topic? Then you'll get your answer. These people have taken American politics and applied it to the Catholic Church, a structure which should transcend our political system.

Mike, I really want to know what Briget Mary's teaching is on same-sex marriage and that is why I asked the question.

What does same-sex marriage have to do with the price of eggs? And what is the Church's big problem with it? Statistics clearly show that people are not influenced in or out of same-sex or opposite-sex orientation by the orientation of others.

I think the church is obsessed with sex!

Hey Everybody,
It's Mike ..the unknown hiding blogger who is all about politics, posting again ...with his buddy Xpi ..another "unknowner".

I guess I missed the post about same sex marriage on the blog - I do not see any article references to such.

The last time I checked it (same sex) was not legal in some states according to state law, so how could the church be involved in it ?...unless Mike and Xpi want to "Politicize" about same sex marriages ?

And I apologize in advance if Mike and Xpi are truly seeking help in a "same sex relationship". I applaud their efforts in reaching out to help each other.

Why hello pig-faced Linda! Thank you for the continued name calling. I see you like to dish out the insults when people post here that disagree, such as the "unknowner" Ravensbarque. How noble and remarkable Christian of you.

Mike --

I am not unknown. My birth certificate, driver's license, and passport all agree on exactly who I am.

Glad to hear you can sleep well at night.

I've been reading these comments and enjoyed the discourse until I read that comment.

Mike...you just crossed the line dude. Upset that Linda points out your anonymous posting nature? Fair enough...but responding with "pig-faced" is simply childish. Are your arguments so weak that you need to fall back to Jr High-esque name calling? This is the kind of stuff I'd expect from a jilted 13 year old girl, NOT a grown man*.

Come on man...fight the good fight, not the childish one.

Oh, and for the record I don't agree with a lot of what is written in this blog, but I appreciate the information and the passion never the less.

(*) The Sisters Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary that taught me in CCD and Catholic high school would be ashamed of me if I ever referred to any woman in the manner you did. That's part of the Catholic value system I learned growing up.

Not more childish than her little quip that myself and another poster are homosexuals simply because we disagree with Bridget Mary's premises: "And I apologize in advance if Mike and Xpi are truly seeking help in a "same sex relationship". I applaud their efforts in reaching out to help each other."

You must have missed that one. She behaved like a little child, so she deserves the same in return.

To Mike and anyone else that has made this thread a part of their reads:

Question for Mike. Exactly where would I have known form your post or this article thread that YOU DISAGREE with Homosexuality ? How would I be able to summarize that you are homophobic or Homosexual (not that I am saying that you are either) ?

Perception is reality. If you perceived my post as offensive, I apologize.

I have noticed that Bridget Mary specifically lists an email address on her posts. Perhaps such sensitive questions may be answered there, as your post question was obviously a "mispost" on the thread asking questions that do not pertain to the blog subject post.

To: Steve...Thanks for your efforts. I have read your blog and I enjoy your posts at your site. I also notice that you post on Aplogists site sometimes and help keep the disagreeing to disagree simplified. I see that we are the only two persons who have an ID that post on this site, so I consider us to be the persons that are actually interested in learning (not that we have to agree), rather than just criticizing or posting random political hot spots to argue about !

Peace in this great Spring to all !
