MMOJ Community Gathers Around Altar to Pray Eucharistic Prayer on Palm Sunday Liturgy/2012 |
HOMILY Reflection was followed by Dialogue Homily with Community
Let us take a few
quiet minutes now to reflect on Passion and death of Jesus.
(Musc minister will
play instrumental music), Jesus remember me or were you there….)
Each of us knows the pain of loss and anguish
in the Good Fridays of our lives
As we face illness,
disability, and death of loved ones, and our mortality, we feel vulnerable…
Like the young man,
who ran from Gethsemane naked when Jesus was seized by his enemies, confusion and grief can fill our hearts….
Jesus prayer, my God,
my God, why have you abandoned me, becomes our prayer for ourselves and our
loved ones….
But the closer we are
to our mortal limitations, our human fragility, the suffering and losses of our lives, the closer God is
to us….
This is the ultimate
meaning of the cross That God is liberating us every moment our lives from the
power of sin and death…
God carries the crosses of our lives with us, bearing our burdens and transforming our
failures, healing our brokeness…
When we feel alone
and forsaken, like, Jesus in the Garden, God sends us angels to console us. On
occasions these angels are family members, friends, strangers, care-givers or sometimes a whole group of people in a loving community…
As we journey through
Holy Week to Easter, we discover through the eyes of faith that the tomb of our
losses are empty … like Mary of Magdala,
the Risen Christ is waiting for us … waiting to embrace us with abundant life
and boundless love….

Some questions for
dialogue homily sharing;
When we are lost,
what do we do or where do we go to be found?
How do we assist
others in their losses and sufferings?
