The Gathering, A Womanist Church is an inspirational testimony about the ongoing development of a womanist faith community that fosters healing and transformation of racism and sexism in our world. The authors share their personal experiences,  scholarly knowledge, sermons and liturgies that apply womanist theology to dismantle patriarchy and live social justice. Their faith communities welcome all people as partners in ministry. This book is filled with insights from the experiences of Black women who are living Jesus’ message of  compassion and justice for the oppressed in our world today.

The Gathering is a living testimony of the Spirit’s call to accompany and support one another in following Jesus’s message by developing caring relationships in inclusive faith communities working together for justice for all God's people. Here they describe a place where all are welcome, all are equal an all are loved. More than ever, we need faith communities, like the Gathering, that invite all people to the banquet table of divine love and spiritual empowerment.

The Gathering, A Womanist Church offers a rich resource for womanist worship to foster living gospel equality in the Heart of Love in the 21st century. Kudos to the authors  of these powerful narratives of people transformed by a womanist church. They have poured new wine into new wineskins to lift up the marginalized and to lead us toward healing and liberation. People who love church, people who  have left  the church and people who are searching for a spiritual home will find a beautiful pathway of hope for living the Gospel in a womanist church.
