On March 14, 2015, Christina Moreira was ordained a priest by a female bishop, Bridget Mary Meehan . Christina's ordination is part of the so-called "Danube Seven." In 2002, seven women were ordained priests on the Danube by male bishops recognized by the Vatican. In the years that followed, two of these women became bishops. They ordained other women priests around the world , including Bridget Mary Meehan .

Christina Moreira discovered faith at the age of 14 through a “ mystical experience .” While meditating on the passages of the Gospel that recount the last meal of Jesus , she felt “ shaken . ” She had the feeling of seeing the scene unfold before her eyes . “ I heard myself say to myself, you will do this in memory of me . ” It was at this moment that she discovered her vocation. In other words , she felt called to the priesthood by God . Aware that the priesthood was forbidden to women , she spoke about it to a priest. He acknowledged that her vocation was probably real , but ordered her not to speak of it any more. “ You know that it is impossible ,” she told him .

If you had been a man, you would be a priest today...

For more than 10 years, Christina built another life for herself . In an attempt to forget her vocation, she abandoned her studies and left France for Spain . However, Christina remained close to the church . She taught catechism in La Coruña . She tried her luck again and spoke of her vocation to the priest of her parish , Victorio Perez- Prieto . He was touched by her story ; for him, there was no doubt that Christina's vocation was legitimate . " If you had been a man, you would be a priest today . " Christina and Victorio then formed a strong relationship . They are now married and officiate together in a community in La Coruña .

“ I am aware that I have committed an act of transgression. I did it to respond to an obsolete and particularly unjust situation.” Christina actively campaigns for the Catholic Church to recognize the vocation of women to become priests. This, without hesitating to wear the alb and stole in St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
