Today we remember St. Edith Stein—philosopher, teacher, seeker of truth, Carmelite, and martyr—whose life shines as a witness to courage, wisdom, and unwavering love.
Born into the Jewish faith, Edith never abandoned the sacred roots that nourished her spirit. Her lifelong search for truth led her ever more deeply into the mystery of your boundless love. In every stage of her journey, she reminds us that faith is not a destination but a continual unfolding of your presence within us.
God of all peoples,
In Edith we see the tragedy of hatred and the triumph of love. Though she was persecuted because she was Jewish, she refused to surrender to fear or bitterness. Even in the darkness of Auschwitz, where her earthly life was taken, the light of her spirit could not be extinguished.
May her witness strengthen us to confront every form of antisemitism, racism, sexism, violence, and exclusion. Give us the courage to stand beside those who are marginalized and oppressed, just as she stood in solidarity with her own people.

Edith believed that every human person bears your divine image. Open our eyes to recognize your sacred presence in every face we encounter. Teach us to honor the dignity of women and men alike, celebrating the gifts each brings to the flourishing of our Church and our world.
