Birth control ban
Like columnist Sonia Guizar (“A Catholic loses faith"), millions of Catholic women use birth control. The Vatican’s prohibition against artificial means of birth control violates primacy of conscience.
How can a pro-life hierarchy refuse to promote birth control as the most effective means, outside abstinence, to prevent abortions? I think power and control over women’s reproductive cycles is the bishops’ No. 1 agenda. This is one of the reasons the majority of Catholics want women priests.
If only bishops could follow Jesus’ example of compassion trumping obedience to man-made laws, Catholic women like Sonia Guizar would not lose faith in their religion.
