Praying for Healing with Eileen Miller and her family, Anointing the Sick

from left to right, Russ Banner, Eileen Miller and Bridget Mary Meehan

Eileen Miller, a member of Mary Mother of Jesus Inclusive Catholic Community, after a fall that fractured her shoulder,  is in a Rehabilitation Facility in Bradenton, Florida. Russ, a faithful friend, visits Eileen each day. On my last visit, I asked Eileen what she would like as a special treat. She said that she would like a milkshake. So today on my way, I stopped at McDonald's and got her a strawberry milkshake and ice cream sundae. It was a delight to see her savor the delicious milkshake during our visit with her family. Before we left, Eileen said that she would like to receive the Anointing of the Sick. So we made a circle around dear Eileen and anointed her forehead and hands with holy oil . "What the Beloved wants from us is action. What God want is that if one of your friends is sick, you take care of her. Don't worry about interrupting your devotional practice. Have compassion. If she is in pain, you feel it too. If necessary, you fast so that she can eat. ..This is true union with God's will."
