ST. LOUIS -- Archbishop Raymond Burke today was appointed today to lead the Vatican's supreme court.

Bad news for your group. The Church will never go back on an infallibly defined doctrine of the faith.

My guess is that he was promoted via the "Peter Principle." If something is not working with someone on a lower level the easiest thing is to promote them.
Abp. Burke was just too controversial and giving Catholics a bad press. In Rome he will have a nice little office and a cosy position just like Cardinal Law and others who have been bumped up to avoid the controversy surrounding them.
